Dressing For Spring Months
It can be hard to know how to dress for spring when the weather is in-between seasons. But don't worry, in this month’s style blog Roberta Lee, London’s Sustainable Fashion Stylist and founder of Ethical Brand Directory shares her tips on how to transition our wardrobes ready for Spring and gives us some timeless outfit ideas full of colour.
What to Wear in Spring
Spring is a time of new beginnings and new hope. As the weather warms up and the flowers start to bloom, it's the perfect time to start dressing for spring by adding bursts of bright colours for the season ahead. Whatever your preference, Spring is a great time to experiment with colourful accessories, seeing what trending colours are already in your wardrobe and creating new looks by switching up your bags, belts and shoes.
It’s time to let go of the puffer coats and start playing around with layering.
Layering in the Spring can be a challenge, but with some simple wardrobe basics it can be made a lot easier. You want to be comfortable in the weather, but you also want to look your best.
Here are some tips for how to layer clothes in Spring:
- Start with a base layer, like a thin thermal vest. This will keep you warm and comfortable while allowing you to wear multiple items.
- Choose layers that are lightweight and comfortable. This will help you control your temperature, enabling you to take layers off or add them depending on the weather
- Move away from chunky winter coats and pair knits like a sleeveless cape and a biker jacket.
- Ankle boots are great transitional footwear items - big chunky boots are thankfully here to stay, so whether you enjoy a flatform or platform - comfort is here to help you step into Spring. 2. How To Wear Colours In Spring
In the transition towards Spring many people start to lean towards wearing that are lighter and brighter like pinks, yellows, and greens. These colors are perfect for spring because they are cheerful and uplifting. But trending colours don’t always suit everyone, so it's best to work with your own complexion and existing wardrobe.
Depending on your colour palette you may find the brights associated with SS22 trends too much to wear with your skin’s undertones, so instead just swap out the bright clear colours with their warmer muted counterparts.
